Love in Action

Love In Action (LIA) is UCOM’s umbrella for the many team ministries staffed by congregational volunteers. Congregants are encouraged to participate in any of these ministries that speak to your heart. Each gift of your time and talents is always appreciated! It takes many, many people to keep UCOM going and growing. From serving as an usher/greeter to staffing the bookstore to helping care for our beautiful grounds, each volunteer adds energy and love to our services, programs and spiritual community.

Bookstore Team

This team manages the bookstore, including inventory, sales and merchandising.

Bulletin Team

The bulletin team meets each Thursday to collate and prepare the weekly bulletins and inserts.

Communications/Marketing

This team produces and coordinates the distribution of email newsletters and announcements, event publicity, marketing/promotional materials and promotions, as well as FaceBook and the UCOM website updates.

Heart & Hands

Providing support to the congregation in times of health challenges, grief and transportation need is the goal of this team. They bring meals, transport to doctor visits and assist congregants as needed.

Sacred Grounds

Maintaining our beautiful grounds is the goal of this team. They plant flowers and mulch in the spring, weed and tend to the many planting beds in the summer. Fall is the time for clean-up and preparation for the winter months.

Usher/Greeters

These smiling faces are the first to greet “regulars” and guests each Sunday morning. They are also responsible for set up and clean up of the Hospitality table.

Youth Enrichment Services (YES)

This team leads the ministries for our children and teens, including Sunday School, special events and projects that reach out to our UCOM kids.

Each year LIA volunteers are recognized and honored for their service to UCOM. The 2010 Awards Luncheon was held in September. Each volunteer received a Certificate of Appreciation and a LIA gift. Gary Haynes was named Volunteer of the Year and presented a plaque and a “golden trowel” for his many hours of work on and devotion to our grounds. Bruce and Elaine Wood received special recognition for all their time, talents and service given to UCOM in many areas.

Bruce Wood received a special award for his countless hours of service as the project manager for the construction of our new parking lot.

Love In Action Recruitment Sunday is a fun-filled event when congregants explore each volunteer ministry to see what speaks to their hearts.
