How can you serve?
Levels of Commitment
There are 3 levels of commitement offered to provide a wide range of opportunities in which to choose from. Commitments are designed as follows:
- Service Team Membership - Serve on a team with a consistent weekly, bimontly or monthly schedule. A 6-month minimum commitment is encouraged to support each are to its maximum.
- Special Project Status - Volunteer on a one-time or durational basis to help with additional opportunities that arise on each team.
- Team Leadership - Commitment includes coordination and facilitation of teams, committees, groups or events. Average commitment is 8-12 hours per month depending on the position.
Volunteer Teams
Below lists the volunteer teams that serve the many areas of UCOM. A general description of each team is offered along with the type of commitment each opportunity entails.

Heart and Hands Team (Coordinator: Suzanne DeGregorie)
Team Description - Team dedicated to offering congregational support for miscellaneous activities. Requests include, but are not limited to, giving rides to services or doctor's appointments, bringing flowers to congregants, making meals for families, etc.
Time Commitment - "Team Leadership or Special Project" status. Get placed on a list to provide for Heart and Hands requests as needed.

Bookstore Team (Coordinators: Margie & Charlie Logsdon)
Team Description - Support the UCOM Bookstore with cashiering, stocking shelves, tracking inventory, setting up table displays, and other miscellaneous tasks.
Time Commitment - "Team Membership" status. Volunteer on a one-time or durational basis to help as needed to assist on Sundays and Special Events or Workshops.
Bulletin Team (Coordinator: Pat Mundt)
Team Description - This team gathers every Thursday morning for fun and conversation while collating the weekly bulletins we use at our Sunday service.
Time Commitment - "Team Membership" status. Once per week is desired, bimontly appreciated. Hours are open to 10:00am - 5:00pm.
Children's Ministry Team (Coordinator: Open at Present)
Team Description - Minister to our children by assisting with Sunday school, special projects or events that reach out to our UCOM kids.
Time Commitment - "Team Membership" status. Once per month during any service. "Special Project" status for other events and as needed.
Choir Team (Coordinator: Bettie Keeling)
Team Description - Sing, Sing, Sing your hearts out during Sunday service.
Time Commitment - "Team Leadership" status. Rehearsals once or twice monthly before Sunday service at 10:00am. Sing during Sunday service once a month.
Community Outreach Team (Coordinators: Warren Lynch & Gary Haynes)
Team Description - Committed team dedicated to researching and implementing community service projects locally and globally.
Time Commitment - "Team Membership" status. Monthly meetings are held. Staff the Welcome Information Table on occasion and/or coordinate Outreach projects.
Event Coordination Team (Coordinator: Rev. Carole Mahaffey)
Team Description - Help coordinate events, sell tickets, and assist with event planning.
Time Commitment - "Team Membership" status. Monthly meeting commitment desired.
Campus Team (Coordinator: Warren Lynch)
Team Description - Weekly team organized to prune, garden, trim, and make our spiritual campus a beautiful place to be.
Time Commitment - "Team Membership" status. Weekly or bimonthly commitment desired or monthly commitment appreciated.
Hospitality Team (Coordinator: Open at Present)
Team Description - This team sets up the hospitality table with refreshments, snacks, supplies (napkins, plates, utensils, cups), and coffee. Also clear and clean table after 12:30 on Sunday.
Time Commitment - "Team Membership" status. One or two Sunday services per month.
Website (Coordinator: Denise Miller)
Team Descirption - This team designs website pages and updates website content.
Time Commitment - "Team Membership" status. At least a few hours a month or as needed.
