Dear Friend in Unity,
So much to look forward to in 2010 and in January we typically focus on new beginnings! We are now in our new facility and enjoying it immensely. What a gift! It's so beautiful, so warm (literally & spiritually!), so cozy, so clean, so well lit! We are deeply grateful for this gift from Spirit. At the same time we recognize that we have co-created this new spiritual home in our partnering with God and we are in awe of how that joining can produce miraculous results. A big hug and thank-you from all of us here at UCOM to those of you who assisted us in so many ways to make this possible---your service, your financial gifts, your prayers, your Love. We are grateful.
In February we typically focus on the God-attribute of Love. Today a profound message came to me via the internet. It is this: "The essence of true friendship is to make allowances for another's little lapses," (David Storey). And here is the daily Practice: "I am grateful today for all the friends who have made allowances for my little lapses.....forgetfulness, thoughtlessness, inconsistency, irritability......" I believe if I had not had friends, coworkers, congregants, neighbors who showed this kind of agape Love to me, the world would have been a much colder place. My prayer is that I am able to love them in kind. I urge you to seize the opportunity to do the same.
New Beginnings, Agape Love - what a great way to begin the New Year of 2010!
Peace & Blessings, Rev. Carole Mahaffey
We are holding all Celebration Services and activities at 740 Old Harrods Creek Rd. We continue in our efforts to obtain a permits for the new parking lot. IF THE EXISTING LOT IS FULL at 740 Old Harrods Creek Road, an attendant will guide you to Middletown Elementary School parking lot off of Old Harrods Creek Road. After parking your car at the school lot, a driver will shuttle you back to the new facility and shuttle you back after the service.
Please do not park in the adjacent lot as we do not have a permit and we do not wish to have neighbors complain, which could jeopardize our permit process.
We have designated 4 parking spaces for people attending for the first time.
Over 40 faith organizations across Louisville are participating in the Interfaith Job Transition Ministry (IJTM) and UCOM is one of them, thanks to member and licensed psychologist, Diane Banic. Job postings as well as information about resume development, career coaching, job search tips, networking opportunities and other types of support are available. Workshop and other events are listed on the website: http://ijtm.dyndns.org/
With the exception of minor adjustments, MSD and Metro Louisville have approved our drawings for our auxiliary parking lot! Yeaaa, thank You, God! We expect to be fully approved soon. Please continue to keep this project in your prayers, seeing it as done. Hold this vision of the field/lot white with "gravel!"
